The Brothers of the Beloved Disciple are a newly formed founded religious community in formation under the direction of two priests, Fathers George Montague, S.M. and Robert Hogan, B.B.D., approved by the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas and located at St. Mary’s Magdalen’s Church in San Antonio.

Our Mission:
With Mary, to bring the full role of the Holy Spirit to the heart of the Church.

We wish to bring the extraordinary power of the Holy Spirit into the ordinary life of the Church by promoting the full role of the Holy Spirit, including the charisms, and the role of Mary in achieving this mission. To do this we work at building strong, evangelizing, faith sharing communities through the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and faith formation. Though presently in a parish we are not limited to that form of ministry. We work especially with youth and young adults. We seek for unity in the Body of Christ, reaching out to unchurched Catholics and also to those of other faiths or of no faith at all.

"The joy of the Lord is our strength!" Nehemiah 8:10

As the Beloved Disciple received the gift of Mary as his Mother and the Holy Spirit as the Paraclete, understanding them both as fashioners of the Church as they fashioned the humanity of Jesus, the Brothers of the Beloved Disciple wish to share this double gift with the Church, building strong and evangelizing communities, drawing others into the full life of the Holy Spirit.

We seek to learn and to show how the Holy Spirit can enliven and transform every structure of the Church. For this reason we have begun with an inner-city, bi-lingual parish, St. Mary Magdalen of San Antonio, where Mary models the Church as family and the Holy Spirit has inspired multiple ministries and begun to transform lives.
